Bosch cordless mower review

Bosch Rotak 430 LI Ergoflex Cordless Lawnmower

I have invested in this Bosch Rotak 430 LI Ergoflex Cordless Lawnmower   because it is quieter and easier to use than petrol mowers. As a professional gardener I am constantly considering ways in which I can improve my working practices in order to help the environment.

I am a keen conservationist and I work closely with clients to create gardens and planting that encourage wildlife.

However, whereas my clients enjoy seeing their gardens attracting wildlife, insects, birds etc, some still do want regular maintenance of their lawns. They prefer to have them tidy, smart and green.

I am very impressed with it. It does exactly what it says on the box.

It is so lightweight that I can easily lift it in and out of my vehicle but at the same time it is robustly built. An ideal choice if you have an allotment that you have to regularly transport tools to.

I found it easy to set up, the handles simply clicked in to place on the mower body and there are just two bolts to secure the upper part of the handles. The handles can be folded down for easy storage.

The cutting width is 43cm which is the same as my old petrol mower, a good wide cut is necessary as it means fewer runs. Smaller mowers have a lesser cut so you use more battery power to complete the amount of runs required to do the whole lawn.

The battery run time is approximately 40 minutes. This will inevitably depend on the grass length, wet or dry grass and inclines.

The grass box is large, which means fewer trips to waste bins or compost bins to empty it.

The grass box was a little fiddly to build. There are two parts which click together, you have to have each clip lined up exactly for them to slot in.

I am maintaining several lawns per day, of differing sizes and so far the Bosch Rotak 430 LI Ergoflex Cordless Lawnmower has not let me down.

All in all I am extremely happy with this cordless mower.

The Bosch Rotak 430 LI Ergoflex Cordless Lawnmower comes with a battery safety key. This means that you can turn the power off and leave the battery fitted. This way it cannot be started accidentally. There is also a spare battery key should you lose one.

The battery fits neatly under a cover that lifts up, then clicks back into place, meaning that the battery is fully integrated within the mower body and inaccessible whilst the mower is in use.

There is a two button start on the handles, again this ensures that the mower cannot be started accidentally.

The handles are ergonomically designed, making it easy on your hands and back. There is a height adjustment so that you can have the handles at an optimum position for your comfort.

Cons

  • Spare batteries are expensive (£80-£100)

If you are looking for a great cordless mower, one that is reliable, easy to assemble and use then look no further, the Bosch Rotak 430 LI Ergoflex Cordless Lawnmower is a great produce, one that I have no hesitation in recommending. I do belief that you get what you pay for and yes, there are cheaper mowers on the market from known brands. However, in researching them I have found that they have a smaller cut and a shorter battery run time. Both of which means that cutting your lawn takes longer. Also with most cordless mowers there is only one battery, so if you need another one then they can cost anything from £60 upwards.
